Oh, look at this: Daily Kos is taking a victory lap because he got the Dems in the Senate to make a humiliating stab at a filibuster against Alito, led by no less than John Kerry, who phoned his call to arms in from Switzerland. Stop laughing: he says this is a GOOD thing. No, not for the GOP, for HIS side.
Read it yourself, but to sum up briefly, his case boils down to "THEY KNOW WE'RE HERE!" As he says:
So we are now on the map. The Alito vote may have fizzled [ed: Gee, ya think??] but you better believe the Dem establishment knows we exist.
Hmm... Well, they know that cold sores exist, too... does THAT help? And you know, if he had let it go at that, he could have had a small point, pathetic though it is in its needy, self-aggrandizing way; but he didn't quit. Hold on to your hats, now, because this is real good:
So what's next? Well, we channel that energy into doing something that would have improved our chances to stop Alito -- getting more Democrats elected to the Senate.
OK. He's a partisan. He's happy because he made a dent in the psyches of the Dem Senate 'leadership'. That's understandable. Good for him. But let's face it: if this guy thinks that embarrassing the few Senators his side does have in the Senate before the country, right before the president makes his State of the Union address, is the way to win converts and elections...well, what can I say? I hope he's right about his growing influence in the party.
Good for you, Markos! Congrats! Keep it up; maybe someday you can lead the party yourself! If there's one left...
